Labor Day weekend is always one to look forward to. Three-day weekends don't come around often, and locals and visitors alike enjoy spending the extra time off traveling and attending events. Whether you're looking to attend a concert, go on a wine tour or enjoy the Central Texas State Fair, we've got plenty of events to keep you busy this Labor Day weekend. 

Thursday Events

Central Texas State Fair 

Enjoy carnival rides for the Thursday night discounted price of $1 each, walk around the fairgrounds or shop at the marketplace. Event attendees can also visit the petting zoo, watch livestock shows or attend a comedy and juggling show by Bruce Manners at 5pm. Fair admission includes access to the nightly concerts. Eli Young Band will be performing. 

Pint Night at FoxDog

Head to FoxDog to meet the team from Barrow Brewing Company. Pint glasses will be gifted with the purchase of a Barrow Brewing Company beer while supplies last. Mingle, drink local brews, and grab a bite to eat from the 100x35 Latin Cuisine food truck.

Labor Day Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Temple Public Library are hosting a used book sale. Stock up on books for yourself or pick out a gift for a friend. The used book sale continues through Saturday, September 3rd.

First Friday

Downtown Temple is packed full of activities, block parties, food and drink specials. Get out and explore downtown Temple at this monthly event! Check out our First Friday page for more information about this month's festivities.

Central Texas State Fair 

The second night of the Central Texas State Fair will feature a live performance by Kevin Fowler, a comedy and juggling show by Bruce Manners, hypnotist Erick Kand and more. Enjoy thrills from the stunts performed by the United Freestyle Stunt Team, watch as dogs zoom around an obstacle course in the Agility Dog Trials or purchase tickets to Twisted Metal Mayhem Demolition Derby.

Kenny Orts and No Chance Band at Bo's Barn

Looking for more live performances this weekend? Bo's Barn will host Kenny Orts and No Chance Band for live music and entertainment on Friday, September 2nd. Tickets are $10. 

Saturday In Bell County

Giganticon 

Giganticon in Killeen is an epic comic convention you won't want to miss. Get ready for comic books, cosplay contests, artists and appearances from well-known actors and voice actors. This Bell County convention will be fun for the whole family. 

Grand Opening at Bold Republic Brewing Co.

Help Bold Republic Brewing Co. celebrate their grand opening with 3 lanes of indoor airconditioned axe-throwing in partnership with Black Axe Company, live music by Jose Pasco and Martian Folk and music bingo hosted by Texas Red Entertainment. The event will be family friendly with Frosti Cones on-site and a playground perfect for children. Local vendors will be set up at the brewery for plenty of opportunities to shop.

Central Texas State Fair 

This Saturday night will feature a concert by Flatland Calvary, PBR Challenger Series, Mutton Bustin, livestock shows, agility dog trials and so much more. 

Outer Space Family Day

This family-friendly event takes place from 10am to 1pm. Learn more about the planets and the mysteries of the stars.

Walker Honey Farm Tour

Take part in a Bee To Bottle tour at the Walker Honey Farm. Walker Honey Farm tours happen on the first Saturday of each month. Children 5 and under can attend the tour for free. Tickets for ages 6+ are $5 each.

 

Other events to enjoy this weekend include The Office Trivia Night at Fire Base Brewing Company, TourTemple's Wine & Beer Trail and a performance by Billy Holt At Bo's Barn.

Siggno at Schoepf's

Siggno will be performing at Schoepf's BBQ in Belton. Gates open at 6pm. Tickets are $30 at the gate or $20 for tickets bought online in advance.

Central Texas State Fair 

This will be the last night of the fair so be sure to stop by if you couldn't make it to the other nights. There will be a live performance by Charley Crockett, PBR Challenger Series, Mutton Bustin, livestock shows, agility dog trials and so much more. 

Travel With Buc-ee's

Don't forget to stop by Buc-ee's for any travel needs you might need. If you decide to take the three-day weekend to travel or make day trips between large events happening in the evenings, make a pit stop at Buc-ee's for snacks, gas and fun. Buc-ee's is a road trip necessity whether you're heading out of town for a few hours, a day, or a weekend away. Try some of our favorite snacks from Buc-ee's such as beaver nuggets, ICEEs, and beef jerky.

Make Plans For Monday

Labor Day is also an extra day that children have off of school. If you've got a few children or family friends to entertain, make a plan to spend the day at one of Temple's family-friendly attractions. Play arcade games, get a strike in bowling and ride go karts at Spare Time or head to the Temple Mall to jump and play at Xtreme Jump Adventure Park. Wheels Family Skating Center is another great option for families. 

Find a local restaurant to try for a mid-day snack. We've got plenty of excellent options to choose from both in downtown Temple and throughout our destination. For some fun without the children, head to Green Door On Second, O'Brien's Irish PubSona Wine Bar, FoxDog or Fire Base Brewing Company for a drink and a good time with your best friends.
