Group Tours

We offer group tours to schools and other community organizations. Tours can be scheduled for Tuesday-Friday, between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Tours can be arranged for groups of 10 or more. School tours have a limited of 65 students per tour.* We ask that tour reservations are made at least two weeks in advance.

    • Guided Rolling Stock Tour (Tour Time - approx. 60 Minutes) 
      • This tour includes a guided walk-through of our historic train cars as well as information on the history of the railroad, traveling by rail, and work life on the railroad.

    • Guided Gallery Tour (Tour Time - approx. 30 Minutes)
      • Exhibits about the history of Temple, railroad life, and the historical significance of the railroad.
        • Guided gallery tours are limited to groups of 20 or less.
        • We recommend 3rd grade and up for schools wishing to do a Guided Gallery Tour
    • COMBO of the Guided Rolling Stock and Galley Tours (Tour Time - approx. 90 Minutes)
      • Perfect for fieldtrips wanting to make the most of their time here at the museum!
      • For large school groups, we ask that you determine a way to divide the groups into smaller groups before the tour begins.
    • Unguided Gallery Tour (Q&A allotted time - 30 Minutes)
      • Explore exhibits at your own pace
        • Best for adult and senior groups with 25+ people
        • Museum Staff will be available in the galleries for Q&A
      • Not available for school or camp tours.

  • Tours are appropriate for all ages.

  • Tours can be scheduled Tuesday through Friday, 10 AM to 3 PM. The museums operational hours are 10 AM to 4 PM. Call 254-298-5172 or email ccarter@templetx.gov if you have any questions about tours or fieldtrips. **No Rolling Stock Tours from Memorial Day to Labor Day after 12:00 (Noon) due to excessive heat inside rolling stock.**
