It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like ChristmasBack to Top of List
Downtown Temple is looking more festive by the day! The City of Temple has begun to put up holiday decor, and the gorgeous Christmas trees you know and love will soon light up downtown as they are placed at City Hall, The Yard Food Truck Plaza, and Santa Fe Plaza. Stroll through our growing downtown district to see your favorite local businesses decorate for the holidays. There's something truly magical about seeing the festive decorations everywhere.
Whether shopping or out and about, downtown Temple is a sight to see. There are events around every corner now that the holidays are near. First Friday, one of downtown Temple's most notable events, will occur on December 2nd. There is always plenty of drink and food specials at your favorite downtown restaurants, shopping, block parties, and lots of fun to be had with your friends and family. Come early to enjoy dinner, block parties, and shopping, or stay late for a piano show at Green Door On Second.
Want to make your visit to downtown Temple extra festive? Stop by on Saturday, December 10th, for Temple Small Business Coalition's Holiday Market & Food Truck Frenzy. Local vendors will sell all kinds of goods, from homemade bread and desserts to jewelry and apparel. Bring the dogs, gather the family, and shop with local business owners at this holiday market.
Temple Railroad & Heritage MuseumBack to Top of List
The Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum currently has the perfect exhibit for this time of year. The festive exhibit on display at the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum is Season's Greetings. The exhibit allows guests to view unique holiday cards created by well-known artists in the art community. The exhibit is open to the public with general admission and is on display until December 31st.
Rockin' Around the Christmas ParadesBack to Top of List
The 76th Annual City of Temple Christmas Parade is held on Monday, December 5th, at 6:30 PM. Before the parade, a special tree lighting ceremony with the mayor will occur outside City Hall. The annual Christmas Parade has become a holiday tradition for families in Bell County. The parade's theme this year is "It's a groovy Christmas" and features lit displays and floats organized by local schools, groups, and businesses. Christmas parades are one of the most sought-after family events to attend during the season. In addition to the 76th City of Temple Annual Christmas Parade, visitors can watch the Parade of Lights, which features boats on Belton Lake decked out for the holidays. The best viewing area for this unique parade is on the patio of Dead Fish Grill, which overlooks the lake. Parade of Lights takes place on December 5th from 6:30 PM to 9 PM.
Holiday Music, Festive Carols, and Fine ArtsBack to Top of List
What would the holiday season be without a little Christmas music to lift the mood? The Temple Symphony Orchestra is hosting its annual Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 3rd, beginning at 7:30 PM in honor of the upcoming holiday. Visitors can expect to hear beautiful arrangements of classic songs and holiday music. The concert will be held at the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center at Temple College.
For ballet fans, visitors will want to grab tickets to a performance of the classic Christmas Ballet, The Nutcracker. The Classical Ballet Conservatory at Lisa's Dance Connection presents this beautiful ballet production. Buy tickets to the ballet for shows from Friday, December 9th, through Sunday, December 11th.
Temple Civic Theatre is also putting on a production of Elf The Musical. This sold-out production is a family-friendly event that all ages can enjoy. Though tickets are now sold out, visitors can look at the Temple Civic Theatre's website to find more information on upcoming productions or give the gift of tickets to another excellent performance for the holiday season.
The Sterle Fine Art Studio is hosting its first Kris Kringle Artist Caravan. Visitors should head to the studio in downtown Temple on December 3rd from 9 AM to 5 PM to walk around the studio, shop for unique art and gifts, enjoy hot chocolate, and meet the artists.
Let There Be Nature In LightsBack to Top of List
Enjoying time outdoors is always a great idea, but the colder weather can cause quite a challenge. BLORA has the perfect event to make exploring nature during the cold weather and holiday season manageable. The Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area hosts a Nature In Lights trail each year. This special holiday event is a mesmerizing sight to see. This five-mile trail features all kinds of light displays and arrangements. One of the best - and certainly among the most cherished - family traditions is heading out to look at all the Christmas lights. At $20 for the entrance fee, this lit trail is a sight you’ll be craving to see.
BLORA also features a scenic Santa's Village and Depot area that will open in December. Visitors can shop at local toy and food vendor booths and enjoy special holiday-themed items. With hot cocoa, treats, novelties, and pictures with Santa, it's no surprise this event is a favorite for visitors and locals alike. People travel from all across the Central Texas region to witness the incredible displays at this stunning nature scene. Nature In Lights at the BLORA takes place from November 11th, 2022, to January 1st, 2023.
Christmas At The FarmBack to Top of List
The Robinson Family Farm is hosting a special Christmas event beginning November 19th. Visit The Robinson Family Farm to pick out the perfect Fraser Fir Christmas tree or a few handmade wreaths to decorate your home for the holidays. This local farm will continue to open daily until all trees are sold. Stop by Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM or Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 7 PM. While you visit the farm, be sure to buy a cup of hot chocolate or mulled apple cider that will warm you up during the cold weather. Plan to stop by the farm early to purchase a tree or wreath before they are gone!
