Looking for some fun with the boys that will unleash your inner child? Better yet, do you have a need for speed? Spare Time located in Temple has a new racetrack that is sure to be a lot of fun with the group! Pretend you're living out your best Mario Kart dreams and race your friends at this awesome track. Races last for ten minutes, with races taking place every twenty minutes. There’s nothing like a good race against the pals to get the night started!

Along with the racetrack in Spare Time’s newest additions to Shaker’s Backyard, this facility now offers eight outdoor batting cages. Whether you enjoy speedballs, curveballs, or a good fastball, Spare Time will give you plenty of chances to find out if you’re an ace pitcher or not! Enjoy a top-of-the-line pitch or two at this local attraction. Want to make it more challenging? Tally up the hits and misses and see which man is the better pitcher!

For fans of golfing or outdoor recreation, take some time to head out to the golf courses at Sammons Golf Course or Wildflower Country Club. Wildflower’s 18-hole course is filled with rolling hills and natural ponds. This course is as picturesque as it is entertaining and challenging. Sammons Golf Course also features an 18-hole course, as well as a driving range, putting green, pitching/chipping area, and much more! Stay for the entire course or simply head to the driving range and tee up! Both golf courses are excellent attractions and will keep your morning or afternoon busy!
Let's not forget about disc golf. Temple has three disc golf courses. You can find one inside Lions Park, one in South Temple Community Park, and a 27-hole course at Crossroads Disc Golf Course. Bring the boys and a few discs and get started on this fun activity. The courses are all challenging, entertaining, and rewarding. It's always satisfying to finish the course without losing a disc and getting the best score.
Hook, Line, and Sinker
Fill up the cooler with ice-cold beer, grab the bait, and park out by the lake for a great time outdoors with the boys. Belton Lake has all kinds of fish like largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass, hybrid striped bass, and sunfish. Another great area for fishing is at Lake Polk. The types of fish that can be found here include striped bass, catfish, bluegill, largemouth bass, blue catfish, and rainbow trout.
Before you head out on a fishing excursion to Belton Lake make sure to get a fishing license! To purchase a fishing license, follow this link. This will allow you to catch a certain number of fish each day. Some perfect fishing spots along Belton Lake can be found at Cedar Ridge Park, White Flint Park, Owl Creek, Arrowhead Point, Rogers Park, and Temple Lake Park. Scope out the different parks and see where the best location is for fishing with the boys.
Outdoorsmen and Hunting Season
Hunting has always been an active pastime for men through the seasons. With the cooler weather finally here, its time to get out the big guns and go on a boy’s weekend retreat of hunting. Currently, the wildlife hunting season features Quail and Dove. Dove Hunting Season is open until October 31st. Following Dove season, you can hunt geese (starting Nov. 6th) and ducks (starting Nov. 13th). Looking for more places to hunt in Central Texas? Want to brush up on your shooting skills? Head to Weber’s Shooting Range and Hawkeye Shooting Academy and Indoor Shooting Range to test your skills or master them before your next trip. For local hunting spots, head to Salado to Mustang Creek Ranch and Solana Ranch. Mustang Creek Ranch has a large range full of whitetail deer. Solana Ranch has wildlife such as whitetail deer, turkeys, hogs, and dove.

It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. Football is finally here. Now fans of the sport have fantasy leagues scheduled on the side and are counting the points their players are racking up! You can't get the boys together to watch the game without a few good flavors of wings in the mix! Catch a game with the boys over at Scores Pizza & Wings and Wings Pizza N Things for a good time and delicious fan-favorite foods. Wings Pizza N Things is conveniently located off the SW H K Dodgen Loop. If you enjoy a good ranch dressing equally as much as the entrée itself, you will love Wings Pizza N Things. The ranch dressing is so good you can buy a bottle to-go. Scores Pizza & Wings can be found in the neighboring city of Belton.
