Cool Down at a Local Water Park

Temple is home to Lions Junction Family Water Park. The water park is designed to cater to families and is open from Tuesday through Saturday, from 12 PM to 8 PM, and on Sundays from 12 PM to 6 PM. It boasts a variety of amenities including splash pads and a splash zone, ensuring that even the littlest of children can have a great time. Additionally, the park offers a thrilling three-story slide, a refreshing pool, and a relaxing lazy river. Come and unwind on the lazy river today, letting go of all your worries as you gently float along.

Summer Fun Water Park is another great water park located a short drive away in Belton. This water park is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM. Summer Fun features Adult Night events where guests can enjoy live music from DJs and bring their own drinks while enjoying a night at the park free of children. These events take place on specified nights after regular operating hours. Typically the events are held from 8 PM to midnight.

Ferguson Park, Jaycee Park, Miller Park, and West Temple Park are all equipped with delightful splash pads that provide refreshing fun for the entire family, especially the little ones. These entertaining splash pads will remain open for enjoyment until October 2nd. Offering a cost-free opportunity to play in the water and beat the heat, each park's splash pad boasts a variety of engaging features, including obstacles for visitors to navigate through or around. There's nothing quite like the joy of an interactive splash zone to keep you and your loved ones cool and entertained throughout the summer season.

There are several pools in Temple that families can enjoy this summer. The affordable pools allow children and adults of all ages to jump in the water and cool off on a hot day. 

Clark Pool

In Wilson Park, Clark Pool is open from 12 PM to 6 PM Thursday through Sunday. It is closed Monday through Wednesday for swim lessons. The admission fee to swim at this pool is $1 per child and $2 per adult.

Summit Recreation Center Pool

A membership to the Summit Recreation Center is required to access the pool.

Walker Pool

The Walker Pool is located at 2603 N 3rd St. This outdoor pool is open Thursday through Tuesday from 12 PM to 6 PM. A small admission fee of $2 per child and $3 per adult applies.

Sammons Park Indoor Pool

Swimming outside is fine, but why not swim at an indoor pool in Temple? Sammons Park Indoor Pool offers instructed and non-instructed classes and open swim time. This indoor pool will let you enjoy a good swim without the outdoor heat and sunburns.

Swim Lessons

Want to take lessons to learn how to swim? There are still availabilities for swim lessons through Temple Parks. Learn more about swim lessons. Swim lessons take place at various Temple aquatic locations based on the session you sign up for. Locations include Lions Junction Family Water Park, Summit Recreation Center Pool, Clark Pool, and Walker Pool. There are four sessions for swim lessons. 

Session One: June 3 - 13

Session Two: June 17 - 27

Session Three: July 1 - 11

Session Four: July 15 - 25

Santa Fe Plaza Fountains

The Santa Fe Plaza fountains are a gorgeous addition to the Santa Fe Plaza in the downtown district. Children of all ages love to race through the fountains while they are out enjoying an event at the plaza or just stopping by to splash around the fountains. Keep an eye on the schedule to know when the fountains will be active.

Fountain Hours:

7 AM to 9:30 AM; 11 AM to 1 PM; 3 PM to 4 PM; 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Leisure Fun on Belton Lake

Belton Lake offers a great opportunity for a fun day out with the family. There are multiple free access points with boat ramps and docks for boating, fishing, and swimming. Visitors can rent boats, kayaks, or paddle boards at Frank's Marina for an exciting day on the lake. Stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and boating are all great activities to enjoy on your next trip to Bell County.

BLORA is an outdoor recreation area at Belton Lake. There is a gate fee associated with entering this recreation area. Guests can participate in activities like boating, shoreline fishing, camping, horseback riding, hiking or biking, paintball, team challenge courses, or race to the top of a climbing wall. Many of these activities are available by reservation only. Horseback riding, paintball, team challenge course, and climbing wall require reservations but are great fun for the family.
