A Guide To Trackside Cinema

 Imagine this: a balmy evening, a cozy blanket, and your favorite movie lighting up a giant screen under the vast, twinkling Texas sky. This isn't just any movie night; it's a magical experience where the stars in the sky compete with those on the screen.

So, gather your crew—friends, family, and anyone dear to you—for a night of laughter, cheers, and unforgettable memories. This is your chance to spice up those ordinary evenings with something extraordinary. Let the bright stars of Temple, Texas, light up your night at this exhilarating local event.

Trackside Cinema is a family-friendly series of events where both visitors and locals can come together to watch a movie under the stars at The Yard Event Space. The beautiful green space of the The Yard creates the perfect setting for a night out with friends and loved ones. Each event in the series will feature a fun, family-friendly movie themed around holidays near the date of the screening, and will also include food vendors and enjoyable activities.

Each event in the series is FREE to attend, and free for all. There will be vendors on site with goods and food that is available for purchase, but attending the event itself at The Yard is free.

Trackside Cinema takes place on September 13, October 3, November 1, and December 13.

All movies will begin at dusk. Guests can head to The Yard early to find the most optimal viewing spots on the lawn. We encourage all guests to check out the downtown district by grabbing a bite to eat or shopping at local businesses while they wait for the fun to begin!

The event will be held at The Yard ( 212 S Main St) in Downtown Temple.

September 20:

Trackside Cinema will present "Encanto," a family-friendly movie about a family with magical powers. Maribel, who appears powerless, is looking for  a purpose and is trying everything to fit in with her family.

October 3:

Trackside Cinema will present "Mean Girls." Its October 3 and if you know, you know. 

November 18 :

Trackside Cinema will feature "The Princess Diaries." This incredible coming-of-age movie follows the story of Mia, an ordinary girl, who finds out she is a princess. The film follows Mia as she struggles to become a princess and take on the responsibilities all of that entails. This family movie is one of the best and we can't wait to watch it with you!

December 19 and 20:

Trackside Cinema will be featuring "The Polar Express," a family movie that should be a yearly tradition to watch with your family. The movie is about a young boy who boards a train headed to the North Pole to prove that you're never too old to believe in Santa. This movie will take place indoors at the Santa Fe Depot. 

Every movie in the series will have a specific theme related to the date around which the event takes place. There will be food vendors and fun activities for the entire family at each event. The movies will start at dusk.

Downtown Temple is encouraging everyone to arrive early. As a special bonus, the first 25 people will receive a special event swag item.

Come and explore what Downtown Temple has to offer. Enjoy snacks and drinks from local food trucks and vendors, find a spot on the green space with your chairs and blankets, and get ready for an unforgettable movie night.

The Plaza Picture Show series is an outdoor, family-friendly event. Please be respectful of those around you and mindful of young children who may be in attendance.

We recommend guests be prepared and bring essentials such as water bottles and bug spray—in case of any unwanted insects flying around—and wear comfortable clothes for sitting on and around the event space. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the event to sit on grassy areas for optimal viewing of the movies. While there will be food and drink vendors on site, feel free to bring bottled water to stay hydrated, but always make sure to clean up after yourselves.

Guests should be respectful and courteous to the event venue and others in attendance. The following items are prohibited from the event:

• Unauthorized vendors, solicitors, and materials, including handbills, stickers, giveaways, samples, etc.
• Weapons (except legally permitted firearms)
• Glass bottles/containers
• Personal grills
• Explosives or other hazardous items
• Non-collapsible chairs
• Tents, canopies, or shade structures of any kind (personal umbrellas are okay)

Parking will be first come, first served. Event attendees can park in street-side parking or various parking lots throughout the downtown Temple area. 

Get ready to experience a fun-filled night of laughter, community, entertainment, and exciting movies. Trackside Cinema is free to attend and fun for the whole family. Even the youngest of family members can get in on the action and enjoy this great series of movies on the plaza.
