Cooking With Class

Have a love for cooking? Sign up for a cooking class at Temple's catering and cooking instructions attraction, Over The Plate.  Learning new recipes can be a lot of fun, especially if you’ve got a group of your closest gal pals to share the experience with. At Over the Plate in Temple, you can sign up for a private class or take on one of the special event classes they offer.  Over the Plate has several specialty class events coming up in the next few weeks. If you want a private class with the girls where you can learn a recipe for something you've always wanted to make, you can register with Over The Plate for a private group class.  There's all kinds of appetizers, entrees, and dessert recipes out there that your friends would have the best time making!

Autumn Entrees At Over The Plate

With Oktoberfest right around the corner, there will be a special event on the 25th for guests to learn how to make spaetzle, schnitzel, and more! Nothing says fall food quite like an Oktoberfest-themed meal! Pasta lovers unite! In the Pasta 101 class that takes  place on October 2nd, students will make linguini and ricotta and spinach stuffed ravioli. On October 10th, Over The Plate has two specialty events happening with one starting in the morning and the other taking place in the afternoon. From 11 am- 1 pm, you can attend a brunch cooking class where you can make frittatas and French toast. Who doesn't love a hearty breakfast meal?

From 3 – 5 pm on October 10th, you can attend a fall-themed cooking class. At this event you will make a pumpkin and beef curry, a cauliflower fried rice dish, and a delicious French apple galette on puff pastry.  This class sounds like a lot of fun for any autumn enthusiasts out there! Some of our best memories are often made cooking in the kitchen with family and friends. If you and your friends love to cook, your next girls night trip should include a reservation at Over The Plate for one of their incredible cooking classes!

Do Something Creative

Let your creativity flow this weekend with a paint session at Painting with a Twist or That Art Place.  At Painting With a Twist you can choose from a themed designs or make something uniquely yours! One of the best parts of the attraction is that you can bring a bottle of wine and pop the cork as you paint!  Share a few glasses of wine with your girls and get ready to paint your next masterpiece! That Art Place, located a short drive away in Belton, has pottery, fused glass, and board art.  Schedule a trip or show up when you have the time, reservations and walk-ins are accepted.  You can design matching drinkware, plates, figurines, or try your hand at fused glass projects.  Whatever you decide to do, the gals will love this opportunity to hang out, have fun, and get creative!

Or if your friends are avid lovers of art museums, take them out to the Cultural Activities Center (CAC) to explore the galleries and current exhibits.  Or plan your girls night trip around one of the many concerts held at the venue. The Cultural Activities Center does a music series featuring different genres and musicians. The next concert for the Texas Music Series is coming up on October 9th featuring Shinyribs. Additionally, on September 26th, there will be a concert featuring Empire Wild, a trio of genre-bending musicians that add elements of pop, folk, Broadway, and more into their songwriting.

Discover Local Wines

Temple, and the surrounding area, has several incredible wineries that are a must-see on your next girl’s night in town.  3 Texans Winery has a beautiful patio that you can sit at and enjoy the aromatic, delicious wine options available!  Nothing says Girls Night Out like a trip to the local winery. Moose & Goose Winery is another fantastic addition to the Temple nightlife scene.

In the neighboring town of Salado, you can find a few more exciting, unique wineries.  Stop by the Salado Winery, Axis Winery, or the Lone Star Winery for a delightful time!  Chupacabra Craft Beer & Lone Star Winery also has karaoke nights throughout the month. If you time your girls' night right, then you might get a chance to showcase your vocals and dancing skills! Sign up to sing a perfect hit song and enjoy a glass of wine while you and the gals have a great time!
